Hi Lynn and welcome to the forum.
I'm Sheila and was diagnosed two years ago, and there are still days when I find it hard to accept especially when I want to go somewhere or do something and can't. However this forum is a great place for advice and help. Like you I didn't know anyone else who had RA. Its great to have you with us and I'm sure you will find the forum not only helpful but there are fun bits as well that brighten my day.
Love
Sheila

Hello Lynn - I just joined when I was diagnosed last month. I'm finding it hard going too. Getting used to new drugs, new diagnosis and keeping up with work and family is hard work!

I'm 50, teach full time and have 5 children (4.5 still at home!) aged 24, 22, 19, 17 and 14. I'm a single parent and also single carer for parents in their 80s, so life is very busy. Now I'm off for Easter I'm looking forward to getting to know my way around the site better and finding some answers to the daily strugglesSmile

Hi Lynn,

Welcome to the club!

I'm 39 (very, very nearly forty!) and have two little peeps, 10 and 6. Had RA for nearly seven years now and am on Methetrexate, Hydroxychloroquine and Rituximab as well as all the other bits and bobs that go with it.

I found it took me years to come to terms with having RA ... it's not easy but having contact with others here on the forum certainly helps.

Looking forward to getting to know you better.

Welcomw from me too Lynn - I was diagnosed over 3 years ago now and still don't think I've come to terms with it! I'm 46. My partner and I have been together for 26 years and have a son who is 8. Still working (just) - part time/term time. I don't know what I would have done without the lovelypeople on this forum. I can say how I really feel to them and know they will always support and advise.

Hi and welcome to the forum. I am sure that you will find much support and advice from those of us who have been there done it. I have had RA for 10 plus years but had symptoms and signs for a long period prior to that. The first few years are the worse until you find coping strategies. If i had found this site from the beginning I think that I would have saved myself so much pain, worry and grief!

Hi and a big warm welcome to the forum.

I'm Barbara, aged 50, married with our 23 yr-old daughter living at home, and was diagnosed with RA last year. I've had a difficult year and I am still trying to learn to cope with this strange illness that seems to have many "travelling companions" (quote borrowed from Eleanor). All I can say, is that this site has become a life saver and I have "met" some wonderful people here who have helped me a lot and have been very supportive.

love,

Barbara

Hi Lynn,

Welcome on board! Im fairly new here too age 46 married to Kev with two children Jack nearly 19 and Katie 15. I know exactly how you feel about coming to terms with it all. I think at first when we are diagnosed its a kind of relief in a way that you are not going mad or just getting older, there is something. Initially I thought, ok, it can be treated, i;ll take the tablets and i'll be ok, WRONG!!! Thas where this forum has really helped. No matter what your question etc is or if you just need to talk to someone, there is always someone out there who knows exavlt what you are feeling and it really is a lifeline.

Take care and look forward to getting to know you.

love Heatherxxxx

Hi Lynn

Welcome to the forum! Hope you enjoy getting to know us all better; everyone is very friendly and there's heaps of advice available so never hesitate to ask questions there's invariably someone who will be able to help!

I too am a Lyn, but with only one 'n'! I am married to Mike and have four children, Abby, Ian, Jake and Louis, all in various stages of education. I have had RA for 22 years and am currently on Enbrel, Methotrexate, Prednisolone, Naproxen and a few other bits and pieces to keep things ticking over!

I guess some people must 'come to terms' with RA but I have a sneaky suspicion somewhere at the back of my mind that one day I might just get better and it will all be forgotten. I have had to accept it but that doesn't mean I've given up yet!

Look forward to getting to know you,

Lyn x

Welcome to the forum Lynn.

unfortunately lots of folks don't know much about RA, many people just hear the word "arthritis" and don't really understand the impact it can have.

Hopefully together we can get better understanding and continue to help and support each other Smile

Hi Lynn

Welcome to the forum, but sorry you have RA. At least you've found us and know where to come when you need support, or just to chat.
